3. Data Sources

To provide accurate insights, CarClever integrates data from:

  • Public recall databases (such as NHTSA).

We do not control third-party data accuracy and encourage users to independently verify final purchase decisions.

  • Legal authorities if required by law.

None of these vendors receive your name, email address, or other direct personal contact information as part of vehicle search or evaluation activity.

We do not share personal data for advertising resale purposes.

6. Data Retention

We retain information:

  • Contact form submissions may be retained for up to 12 months for support and security purposes.
  • Aggregated analytics and structured interaction data may be retained for up to 24 months.

Chat-based evaluations may be anonymized for research and product improvement.

6a. Automated Decision-Making (ADMT)

CarClever uses artificial intelligence to generate Deal Scores (0–100), risk ratings, and total cost of ownership estimates. These are automated analyses based on available listing data, and no human reviews each individual result before it is shown to you.

You have the right to:

  • Request a human explanation of how a specific vehicle’s Deal Score or risk rating was calculated.
  • Opt out of automated analysis for your search session by contacting us before use.
  • Ask questions about our scoring methodology at any time.

  • Risk indicators, ownership cost estimates, and deal scores are based on incomplete data and should not be the sole basis for any purchase decision.
  • Vehicle history, title status, recalls, accident history, and dealer pricing should be independently verified through Edmunds, the dealer, NHTSA, an independent inspection, or a vehicle history report (Carfax or equivalent) before purchase.
  • Final purchase decisions are the user’s responsibility.

12. U.S. Market Limitation

CarClever currently focuses exclusively on the U.S. market. Data accuracy outside the U.S. is not guaranteed.
